Grinder Wear Parts - Past & Future
by Wayne Brown

I was pleased to be asked to write a brief outline of what The Trading Company has been up to recently. Well, it’s quite simply put that we have been up to a lot! Over the past year we have changed the name of our parts manufacturing division (The Trading Company) to Grinder Wear Parts (www.grinderwearparts.com) to better reflect exactly what we do. With this, we also opened up our East Coast, Largo, Florida manufacturing facility to better serve our customers in the eastern United States, Canada, the Caribbean and Europe.

Apollo Equipment (www.apolloequipment.net) was purchased and relocated to its new head office in Largo, Florida as well. That’s not all! One of our goals was to assist our customers in the rebuilding / refurbishing of their wood waste recycling equipment, hence the founding of Grinder Rebuild Specialists ( www.grinderrebuildspecialists.com) to meet the growing demand in this area. And to assist in the financing of the heavy equipment, we opened yet another company with knowledgeable staff who understand not only the recycling industry, but are experts in finding financing solutions for our clients: Global Equipment Financing Solutions ( www.globalequipmentfinacingsolutions.com).
The net result is a family of companies which offer a wide selection of services to the growing wood waste, biomass, composting, landfill, landscape and land clearing industries.

The Trading Company was founded thirteen years ago in 1998, and then renamed in 2010 as Grinder Wear Parts. Its focus has been to manufacture and supply factory direct, high performance wear parts for the wood waste recycling industry; primarily those working with tub and horizontal grinding equipment. By providing our clients with performance, quality wear parts, we have helped our clients reduce their operating costs through reduced down time, and increased performance of the wear parts.

From our own factory, manufacturing our forged tips to our custom carbide application process (DURAMAX) our carbided tips / inserts offer incredible value to our customers.
The certified steel used in the manufacturing of our screens / grates (T-1, AR-400, AR-450, AR-500 and special application alloys) ensure accuracy of design and exceptional wear.

By being factory direct from our manufacturing facilities in Oregon and Florida, our customers are assured of excellent “fast” service, getting their parts made correctly, on time and serviced by knowledgeable staff and Sales Manager, Sonja Zehr.

We are constantly learning from our clients and introducing new processes and products to meet their growing needs. Many of our staff have worked on the grinders, including our President, Lainy Vanderwey who originally was instrumental in the design and development of the Diamond Z grinder brand!

With the founding of the company by Hank Vanderwey (The Trading Company) back in 1998, Lainy Vanderwey and Wayne Brown purchased the company in 2002 and started on the path to bring the grinding community performance wear parts at a value price.

This has allowed us to grow into our 8 acre, 60,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Largo, Florida as well as complement our business with the addition of the other companies: Apollo Equipment, Grinder Rebuild Specialists and Global Equipment Financing Solutions, all of which allows us exceptional product knowledge and service to our customers.

Grinder Wear Parts staff can be reached on both coasts, Oregon (5am to 5pm PST) & Florida (7am to 5pm EST) 800-827-0401. We manufacture what we sell to ensure excellence in quality and performance, not only in our wear parts, but also ourselves.

Apollo Equipment was also founded in 1998 by Hank Vanderwey and soon thereafter joined by Johannes (Jon) Vanderwey. Through their vast experience working on and selling grinders, they built what is considered the most recognized company for the brokering of heavy equipment, specializing in tub and horizontal grinders and the support equipment to the wood waste, recycling industry.

Apollo Equipment provides the opportunity to review and choose from all makes and models of equipment available with the price, end use and production in mind. The customer is assured of an un-biased “BEST FIT” sales process. Clients can easily list their equipment and have excellent exposure and presentation of it by our top performing website ( www.apolloequipment.net), print advertising and direct marketing by our knowledgeable sales staff. The seller and the buyer benefit from our experience with a clear directive that we want to build strong relationships with our clients for many years to come!

Look for exciting things to come in 2011 as Apollo Equipment was purchased by Lainy Vanderwey & Wayne Brown with Jon Vandwerey as a shareholder. Our customer service and sales staff are available almost 24/7, but normal hours are from 7am to 5pm EST and they can be reached by 800-982-2844.
2011 brought about further change, especially fueled by the foundation of Grinder Wear Parts and Apollo Equipment’s growth. It was a natural fit to add a new company and service, simply stated as Grinder Rebuild Specialists, based in Oregon and Florida.

With the manufacturing facilities, experienced staff and strong support from our clients, the rebuilding / refurbishing of grinders has been a great success. Our mission is to provide a specialized, knowledgeable source to the tub and horizontal grinding industry to rebuild their equipment and bring it up to excellent operating condition.

From consultation, minor metal fabrication, to complete restoration, we have the ability to meet your needs. Customer service can be reached at 800-982-2844, or visit our website www.grinderrebuildspecialists.com.

Global Equipment Finance Solutions

To round out our services and meet the needs of our clients, we knew there was a need for an "in-house” lending solution which understood the demands of the recycling industry and heavy equipment financing.

With this, we started Global Equipment Financing Solutions headed by the Director of Finance, Carl Schulz. Carl brings many years of financing experience, having worked on projects requiring millions of dollars, to helping coordinate opportunities which were relatively small. The focus is finding the right fit / loan which will meet the needs of each and every client, professionally and confidentially. Often with his understanding of the process and the association with our group of companies, especially Apollo Equipment, we can get the deal done quickly and effectively for all parties. Carl can be reached at 800-988-0639 or visit the web site www.globalequipmentfinancesolutions.com.

Who knows what the future will bring. But rest assured it will be related to our primary focus, which is serving the needs of the wood waste recycling, heavy equipment, landfill, composting, biomass, landscape, land clearing and even asphalt shingle recycling industries. From our manufacturing and distribution on both coasts (Oregon & Florida), we can offer a tremendous amount of products and services to our clients.
With over 50 employees and a strong family presence (Lainy Vanderwey & Wayne Brown, Jon Vanderwey, Sonja Zehr, Corey Harpin..with more to come!??), we are committed to bringing our clients excellence in service and performance in everything we do.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our many thousands of clients worldwide for allowing us to help them over the years, and we sincerely are committed to making their operations even more successful in future, with the products and services we provide.
