ank Vanderwey was born June 18,
1934 in Bakhuizen, Holland. He passed away on his Silverton farm
on August 9, 2008. Hank was raised on a farm in Holland and was
a dairy farmer and cattle broker.
He met Thea Veendrick in 1959 and married
her on August 29, 1962. Hank, Thea and their 3 young children immigrated in
1966. Hank and his family settled in Idaho and built one of the largest
dairy operations in the state. At this time the 2 youngest children were
born.
Hank was always a very successful
entrepreneur. He had a dairy and farm business, feed company, steel
manufacturing company, imported tractors, equipment brokerage, wear-parts
manufacturing facility and various other endeavors which are now carried on
by his children.
He loved to wheel and deal and was known as
a direct and to the point and was always remembered by those who had the
opportunity to meet him.
Hank enjoyed fishing, hunting, working and
improving his hobby farm and traveling with his wife. He always gave direct
and practical advice laced with a keen sense of humor.
Hank is survived by his wife of 46 years,
Thea; children Lainy, Nico, Yon, Marianne (Ozuna), and Henry; 13
grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; 4 sisters and 3 brothers. Hank was
preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister.
The funeral will be held at St. Mary’s in
Mt. Angel Oregon at 3pm on Sunday August 17, 2008. A reception will follow.
